A list of companies, tech and other stuff that suck ass and deserve to be put on this list.

Apple devices in general for the following crimes:

• iPhones, and iPads, that for some reason do not have any support for flac files, yet every single other device does.
• Not supporting sideloading.
• Killing off the headphone jack and indirectly pushing the entire phone industry to do the same.
• Just generally being a fucking dogshit company.

Twilio:

for deciding out of fucking nowhere to implement Play Integrity bullshit on their 2FA app (Authy), which almost caused me to get locked out of my own 2FA codes. Fuck you Twilio.

VMWare:

For selling out, and then making the process of downloading it so fucking hard for no reason. Why the fuck do I need a Broadcom account to be able to download VMWare???

Mozilla:

• For letting Firefox rot and die while paying its CEOs so much fucking money. That TOS change incident did not help at all.
• For trying to turn Firefox into an AI browser, making it worse on every update.
• Considering blocking adblocking on the browser most known for its adblocking abilities.
• Killing off Pocket and Fakespot, two fairly popular services.
• 33 counts of app and service murder.

Oneplus:

• For only giving a single (one) (1) update to their budget phones. Not even fucking Motorola does this. And then they go and say "oh yeah that is how everyone else does it". So now your new $300 dollar phone is essentially dead on arrival, only getting a single Android version update, and once the security updates end, your phone is just left to fucking rot and die. Geniuenly go fuck yourself, Oneplus. Also yes, I was so fucking stupid in buying a shitty Nord N10. Should've gone for the Pixel 3a, ffs.
• Implementing anti-downgrade countermeasures to prevent people trying to downgrade their OS.

Samsung:

For killing off bootloader unlocking and by extension custom ROMs, loading up their phones up with bloatware, killing the headphone jack and SD cards on their flagship phones.

Microsoft, for the following non-exhaustive list of crimes:

• Forcing ads down our throats for years, starting with Windows 10 on the start menu.
• Onedrive and trying desperately for users to use this shitty cloud storage, and moving around my files to a different folder without the user’s consent, while leaving a shortcut called “where are my files”. This shit is ransomware behavior.
• Forcing Microsoft account sign in at Windows install.
• Trying to force AI in general (Microsoft keeps trying to force AI into every single part of the operating system)
• Recall being a security and privacy nightmare, literally acting like a key-logger. Promising that the data collected from Recall is encrypted, something that turned out to be nothing but a big fat fucking lie.
• Baking MS Edge into the operating system, making it harder to remove, importing bookmarks and history from other browsers without the user’s consent.
• Trying to make Windows Subsystem for Android a new Windows 11 feature, then literally killing it off a couple years later. It is literally the best fucking Android virtual machine on Windows right now and they just killed it.
• Resetting privacy settings on every update.
• Windows 11.
• Giving Bitlocker decryption keys away to whatever three letter agency requests it (also saving the decryption keys for these drives on Microsoft servers without telling you at all).

Google, for the following non-exhaustive list of crimes:

• Killing off third party app installing (no i will not call it sideloading) with developer verification bullshit,
• Introducing restrictive DRM with Play Integrity that blocks users that are using custom ROMs to certain apps.
• 296 297 298 299 counts of app and service murder
• Constantly making it harder for custom ROMs to exist, which impacts user's rights for choice and privacy. 1, 2
• Using third party apps to train their shitty AI without the user's consent (aka: opt-in by default).1, 2
• Constantly fucking over people with adblockers and people using third party clients.
• Changing their app logos to awful and terrible designs that make it harder for the average person to differentiate them easily.
• Making the OS look worse on every update (Material You was a mistake)
• Constantly trying to stop third party frontends for YouTube from working

  

Mobvoi/Ticwatch:

• Building watches that suck quality-wise.
• Never giving Ticwatch E3 owners an update to WearOS 3.
• Having horrible customer support.

Banco Azteca, for the following reasons:

For context, this is a bank that operates in the country that I live in. It is also abysmal dogshit.

• Their banking app is abysmal dogshit. It keeps trying to upsell me shit, offer me loan offers that I would probably struggle to hell and back to pay off. They also have a fucking shop that you can buy phones, electronics and a bunch of other bullshit. Like it is supposed to just be a banking app, why is it so fucking hard to get this right?
• They are so fucking cagey surrounding online purchases. So a couple days ago I decided to buy a CD on Bandcamp, which if it was any other bank, they would just process the payment, maybe ask me authorization via the app once. But not this company! So what they did when they saw I spent my own money on the CD was:
  • Decline my purchase like 3 or 4 times.
  • Sent me 5 notifications inside the app, and other 5 notifications to Whatsapp, asking me if I recognize the purchase, and I answered "YES" to all of them.
  • Lock my account without my consent, despite me telling that yes, it was me, and it was me, the one that I purchased on Bandcamp.
  • If this wasn't enough, I got a call from some motherfucker from the "fraud prevention team" asking me if I reconized a purchase from Bandcamp, and I was at my fucking limit. If I wasn't in public that day, I totally would've just gave a piece of my mind that day. But I just told them that yes, I did recognize the purchase, I even told them the amount that it was and well that was it, my most frustrating banking experience of all fucking time.
  I should note that this is not the only time this has happened before. It happened again when I was trying to buy the Mullvad VPN add-on to Tailscale. But honestly this experience singlehandedly convinced me to finally switch to another bank, an actual bank, not some shitty shady as fuck bank glued to an equally shady as fuck department store.
